The Pontyscyttle aqueduct which carries the Llangollen canal & towpath 1000 feet over the River Dee 120 feet below in a narrow iron trough and is both the longest & highest navigable aqueduct in the world.
The lady's pool is a particularly broad stretch of the Kennet and Avon canal designed to look like a lake and forms part of our Kennet and Avon Walk.
The partially restored Lancaster follows an interesting route into the Lake District & passes close to the sea as it provides excellent views of the Cumbrian hills.
The first days walk takes you west out of Leamington Spa and around the ancient town of Warwick with its impressive castle. Beyond Warwick the canal rises steadily through the Hatton locks into attractive Warwickshire countryside before joining the Stratford on Avon canal and travelling south.
The canal descends towards Stratford intersecting with attractive villages en route and crossing the longest aqueduct in England. At Wilmcote you can visit Mary Arden's birthplace. The route then cuts through Stratford delivering into the Marina next to the river and theatre right at the heart of the town.
